Common types

Trommel

These screens can organize topsoil and compost. Trommel designs work with a perforated spinning drum. The drum rotates to tumble the material over repeatedly to cause stratification. The smaller particles then fall through the bottom while larger particles fall to the side.

01

Star

This machine rotates to move the particles horizontally. It has one or two circular screen decks with star-shaped openings. The unique star shape is ideal for fine organic materials of various moisture levels, including compost, mulch, reed sedge and manure.

02

Shaker

Also known as box screens, these machines vibrate on a mounted chassis. The vibrating motion moves smaller particles through the screen openings while larger particles remain on top. Coarse materials like concrete, stone and asphalt can be fed into this kind of machinery.

03

Grizzly

This design works with gravity rather than vibrations or tumbling motions. They are set on an incline so particles can slide over the screen, allowing smaller particles to fall through the openings.

04

Scalping

These are similar to grizzly designs, although they have smaller openings to allow finer sorting of
materials.

Product advantages

Improved Quality Control:
Feed screeners ensure that only the right-sized particles and pure ingredients enter the feed mixture, resulting in a more consistent and uniform product. By eliminating contaminants like stones, dirt, and oversized particles, screeners help maintain the quality of feed, preventing health issues in animals and ensuring that they receive the right nutrients.

Enhanced Nutritional Value:
Feed screeners help separate unwanted particles that may negatively impact the nutritional profile of the feed. For example, in the production of animal feed made from grains or seeds, screenings ensure that the feed contains only usable ingredients, which ultimately helps in providing animals with a balanced diet and improved growth.

Increased Processing Efficiency:
By automating the sorting and screening of feed materials, screeners reduce the need for manual labor and minimize human error. This leads to faster production times, more efficient use of resources, and better scalability for larger feed mills or production plants.

Contaminant Removal:
Feed screeners are essential for removing contaminants from raw feed ingredients, such as stones, sticks, or metal fragments. This not only improves the safety of animal feed but also reduces the risk of machinery damage during the production process. Contaminant-free feed also ensures that animals are not exposed to harmful substances.

Optimization of Feed Formulation:
Feed screeners allow manufacturers to maintain the desired particle size for various types of animal feed. The consistency in particle size improves the overall texture and palatability of the feed, which can enhance animal consumption rates and improve overall feed efficiency.

Application

Agriculture
In agricultural operations, feed screening machines play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of animal feed and crop products. They effectively remove impurities such as dust, stones, husks, and broken kernels from grains, seeds, and mixed feed formulations. This purification process not only enhances nutritional value but also minimizes the risk of contamination that can lead to animal diseases or growth inhibition.

Mining and Minerals
The mining industry relies heavily on feed screening machines for the classification and separation of ores, minerals, and aggregates. These machines sort materials by particle size, allowing valuable minerals to be isolated from waste rock (gangue), thereby increasing extraction efficiency and reducing downstream processing costs.

Food Processing

In food processing facilities, feed screening machines ensure the removal of foreign contaminants such as shells, stones, metal fragments, and organic debris from raw ingredients like fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains. This critical step enhances food safety, protects processing equipment from damage, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards such as HACCP and FDA guidelines.

Recycling

Feed screening equipment is a cornerstone of modern recycling operations, enabling the effective separation of mixed waste streams into reusable components such as plastics, metals, glass, paper, and textiles. This segregation is essential for maximizing material recovery rates and minimizing landfill dependency.

Chemicals and Plastics

In the chemical and plastics industries, precise particle size control is critical for product consistency and performance. Feed screening machines separate powders, granules, pigments, and plastic resins to ensure uniformity in raw materials before further processing.

Precautions

Daily inspection

Whether the vibration motor bolts and springs are loose, and whether there are cracks in the groove.

Lubrication

Regularly replenish motor bearing grease (such as lithium-based grease).

Shutdown maintenance

Clean the material accumulation in the tank and check the wear of the liner.

Insufficient feeding volume

Check whether the adjustment of the motor eccentric block is consistent and whether the voltage is stable.

Abnormal noise

Fasten the bolts and check whether the spring or liner is broken.

Motor overheating

Check whether the bearings are lubricated or overloaded.
